Ladoga Trophy 2005 to date

The TypeR was developed for and has been taking part in the Ladoga Trophy for the past 4 years. Almost certainly the toughest off-road competition in the world, this 9 day Russian event is the ultimate car and winch killer. Any winch not hydraulically powered cannot operate in this environment for long, but the H12 TypeR seems to work faultlessly, without overheating despite many hours of continuous puling, at speeds of up to 100 feet/min under load.

Prototype class entrant Jez Godwin, at only his 3rd attempt took 4th place overall last year and that after sacrificing 2 places spending time rescuing a fellow competitor. But that is the way they do things out there. This year he is out to win in a brand new vehicle.

The “Pig”, pictured below, was his first vehicle built for the 2005 event and since then he has built a new and improved vehicle every year.

I have to say that I had a go in 2006, the winch was of course no trouble, winching and winching for hours on end at speed through swamps and mud, but alas my 90 lasted only 2 days before a completely wrecked suspension forced us out.

In 2006 4 vehicles fitted with H12 TypeR's took part and all worked faultlessly.
