This 2-day 4x4 Challenge event will take place on the very impressive "Les Cinq Piliers" site, about 2 hours drive from Calais. This huge disused quarry is one of the best natural off road sites in Europe, with over 300 acres of woodland, many kilometres of rough tracks, with steep and slippery inclines, ideal for a tough winch competition. Then there are the caves, so in years to come everyone will be using it.

The event will start at the crack of Dawn on Saturday 9th December, rain or shine (prepare for rain) and finish mid afternoon on Sunday 10th, then it's back home to start work on Monday morning, or not if you are part of the idle rich.

TEAMS

We are looking for 22 teams, each comprising 2 persons in a capable, fully prepared off-road vehicle. Compulsory equipment will include:- mud terrain tyres, a powered winch, recovery equipment, mats or sand ladders, GPS, compass and good lights both front and rear and also lights for the winches.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge will include some very tough off-road driving, navigation, recovery, a "cave" stage and most importantly teamwork skills, since part of the event will follow our usual "inter-team teamwork" format. This is where you will be randomly grouped together with 3 or 4 other teams to perform the various special stages and the groups are then rotated throughout the event to ensure fairness. This highly popular arrangement promotes camaraderie amongst the teams, without denigrating the individuals' highly competitive spirit. In addition there may also be a small "Comp-safari" stage to test off-road driving kills, but only if the conditions are suitable and safe.

THE COSTS

The entry cost will be £249 per team and this price will include a Hog-roast on Saturday night. For those traveling from the UK cross channel ferries are cheap at this time of the year and generally not full, so you can just turn up, or pre-book. But don’t forget your passports.
